General Information
The Planetary Aeolian Research Institute was founded in 2018 with Shaanxi Normal University in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, dedicated to the study of aeolian processes in the solar system, such as on the Earth, Mars, Titan, and other planets.
PARI is intended to be involved in China’s and international space exploration missions, taking the advantage of advanced aerospace research and technology in Xi’an, an important aerospace research base in China.
PARI aims to improve understanding of the laws and principles underpinning aeolian processes, provide evidences for understanding the planets’ environment and evolution. With the knowledge available about the Earth, research fields include aeolian physics, aeolian geomorphology and aeolian environment.
PARI scientists are well-trained aeolian researchers, and among the first in China to initiate planetary aeolian research, realizing Martial analogues of terrestrial aeolian landforms on the Tibetan Plateau, funded by the National Science Foundation of China.
